The transition from life to death

“These are songs from the limbo, notes of sorrow, hate, love, darkness and light. The tale of Emerald Forest And The Blackbird.”
 (Juha Raivio)

This album is my newest drug! The music...the lyrics...simply beautiful!
This band is just awesome. A perfect example of brutality (at some points) mixed with heart-breaking melodies. A extremely melancholic, yet beautiful band.

Once upon a midnight dreary...

A fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, in which the poet pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer's stories
(In theaters April 27.)
Finally! I'm really looking forward to see this movie.  One of the filming locations for this movie was Belgrade. Good choice. The cast is great. All that is left to do is to wait.

Learn From This Mistake

I've come so close, it's almost hard to believe
When you're up close, it blinds you brilliantly
Just one rush can change your life forever
Just one push can end it all together

Why can't we learn from the plague that surrounds us
Learn from my mistakes
Learn from this mistake
Learn from our mistake
Learn from their mistakes

There's no shoulder to cry on when you have no shame
There's no finger to point when you are to blame
Open book, in my eyes shows you rain, then storming
I can't look, when covered by the nothing and the suffering

Learn from my mistakes
Learn from this mistake
Learn from our mistake
Learn from their mistakes
Learn from my mistake

Believe me, all my friends, in the ending of the story
There's no junkie out there with a happy ending
It consumes you, and haunts you like the devil
It's the art of the process that kills off all the rebels

Learn from this mistake
Learn from my mistake
Learn from our mistake
Learn from my mistake...

Social Experiment

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

Thank you Vedo! :D

Carnevale di Venezia

The Carnival of Venice

11th - 21st February 2012

The Carnival of Venice (Italian: Carnevale di Venezia) is an annual festival, held in Venice, Italy. The Carnival starts 40 days before Easter and ends on Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday or Martedì Grasso), the day before Ash Wednesday.
It's an amazing event and one of my biggest wishes. I just simply love the masks, especially The Plague Doctor mask (Medico Della Peste)  and Columbina. To me it's a closest thing to a journey into the past. One of this year's carnival events that interest me the most is "Secrets of Venice Carnival and the Life And Times Of Giacomo Casanova". There is also "The Serenissima Grand Ball" at Palazzo Pesaro Papafava dedicated to Mozart and his opera The Marriage of Figaro...and much, much more. Minuets, Rondo, Cotillion...

Marzanna at her best! (pt. IV)

Sick and tired of this winter. When the time comes (20th March), I'm gonna make at least ten effigies of Mora (Marzanna). Five to drown in Miljacka river and five to burn.

This ritual represents the end of the dark days of winter, the victory over death, and the welcoming of the spring rebirth.

When wolves sing my pain...

Appeler Les Loups

Leva- me
Para o teu pesadelo
Para o teu lugar secreto
De sentir
De respirar
Viver mais um dia...

Quando a luz se desvanecer
Quando a solidão te invadir
Quandor a dor permanecer
E o teu anjo te abandonar

Amaldiçóo os cãnticos de amor
Quando a luz desvanece, quem fica?
Quando os lobos cantam a minha dor
E a luz desvanece

Amaldiçóo os cãnticos de amor
Quando a luz desvanece, quem fica?
Quando os lobos cantam a minha dor
E a luz desvanece

A alma deriva ao sabor do vento
